About Cambridge

Cambridge is a picturesque town located in the Waipa/Waikato region in the North Island of New Zealand, with a population of around 18,000.

How to get to Cambridge, New Zealand

Cambridge is situated 25km (driving time 20 mins) from New Zealand’s fourth biggest city, Hamilton and 150km (driving time 2 hours) from New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland.

Auckland Airport is the gateway to New Zealand and receives the majority of international flights including our national carrier, Air New Zealand. Hamilton Airport is the closest domestic airport.

Official Language and Currency of New Zealand

There are three official languages of New Zealand. English is the dominant language spoken by most New Zealanders. The two other official languages are Māori and New Zealand Sign Language.

The New Zealand dollar (sign: $; code: NZD) is the currency New Zealand. It is divided into 100 cents.
Notes are available in $100, $50, $20, $10 and $5 with coins used for $2, $1, .50c, 20c and 10c (the lowest denominator)

Team Accommodation:

Official Team accommodation will be located in the city of Hamilton at two properties. The number of beds at each property is limited. Transportation from both venues will be provided on official Training and Competition days.

College Hall - University of Waikato

The University of Waikato is a world leading tertiary centre with a very relaxing environment and good quality accommodation. Within a short walk of the rooms is a vibrant and exciting campus – boasting new cafes, park like settings and world class sports and recreation centre. The rooms are neat and tidy style of 3 star accommodation (Shared Bathrooms) that provides the closest proximity for teams to travel to the Velodrome. The food will be provided at the onsite dining hall who will be producing a well-planned selection of meals to meet the range of high performance nutritional requirements.

College Hall will be used exclusively for teams and is 17km or about a 20 minute drive to the velodrome. This is the closest team accommodation.
